Staple Ingredients
ADM is a major producer of acidulants - citric and lactic acids and their salts, including grades that meet the European Pharmacopoeia specifications. Plus, we offer xanthan gum and sorbitol. Glycerol, as the pharmacopoeia-grade is available from our operations in Germany. Then, from our US lactic acid plant we offer ethyl lactate, used as a solvent for essential oils.

Cotton Linter Pulp
Our cotton linter pulp is used in the production of cellulose ethers for shampoo, toothpaste and cosmetics applications.

Oils & Esters
We produce a range of speciality vegetable oils, including grades based on soya, peanut and coconut oils. ADM lipid chemists have also developed an extensive line of vegetable-based esters, which come in a variety of forms, tailored to our customers’ needs.
Phytosterols
ADM is also a leading producer of soya-based ingredients that have been attracting interest in the skincare market. Derived from the same process that extracts natural-source vitamin E, phytosterols have gained acceptance as a topical ingredient to maintain moisture levels in the skin. Soya protein and soya isoflavones are also being investigated as active ingredients that can positively affect both skin tone and skin density.
Vitamin E & Mixed Tocopherols
Cosmetics manufacturers are increasing product appeal – and market share – by incorporating nutraceutical ingredients into their current and new product lines. Vitamin E and mixed tocopherols are well known for their antioxidant properties and are found in leading topical creams and moisturizers. ADM is the world’s largest producer of natural-source d-alpha vitamin E.
