ADM Promotes Farm Safety
ADM is a company made up of great people who are proud to support the communities where we live and work in a variety of ways. One way we give back is through contributions to organizations that positively affect our partners, America's farmers.
The farm can be a dangerous place for those who live and work there, especially for children. There are an estimated 1.3 million children and adolescents 19 years of age or less living on farms in the United States. According to a recent study, each year, an average of 104 children die from farm-related incidents in this country.
A Cause Born of Tragedy
In the fall of 1986, an 11-year-old named Keith suffocated in a gravity flow wagon of shelled corn on his family's Iowa farm. After her son's unfortunate accident, Keith's mother, Marilyn Adams, founded Farm Safety 4 Just Kids (FS4JK), with the goal of educating farmers and their families of the dangers facing children living on farms. Today, the same heartfelt concern and compassion that founded the organization still drives FS4JK's members, chapters and staff to work to fulfill the organization's worthwhile mission.

ADM's sponsorship of FS4JK helps enable the organization to undertake the important task of educating families about how to keep children safe on and around the farm.

FS4JK conducts children's farm safety programs in communities across the United States and Canada. Millions of children, youth and farm families have attended these programs, and undoubtedly, countless lives have been saved as a result.
